Just north of the Nusa Dua area is the Tanjung Benoa peninsula, which has cheaper hotels and also the village of Benoa. A multi-denominational area, including a mosque and Chinese and Hindu temples in close proximity to each other. Much of the beach's sand was eroded following mining of the nearby barrier reef for building materials.
Benoa Harbor, which is also located there, was previously used for cruise ships and small vessels. In December 2012, this port became the turnaround port for the Benoa Cruise International Terminal, which functions as an embarkation and disembarkation point for cruise ship passengers. As a turnaround port, tourists can arrive or leave Benoa Harbor by plane or cruise ship.
