Gianyar is a regency located in the province of Bali, Indonesia. It is a very popular tourist destination after southern Bali, especially Ubud and Tegellalang, offering many interesting attractions and activities for tourists.
The capital city of Gianyar is in Gianyar sub-district. Gianyar borders Denpasar City in the Southwest, Badung Regency in the West.
Bangli Regency in the North and Klungkung Regency in the East. At the end of 2023, the population of Gianyar will be 505,809 people. This district is the center of carving culture in Bali.
Based on archaeological evidence in the Gianyar area, it is estimated that the emergence of human settlement in Gianyar occurred 2,000 years ago with the discovery of tools (artefacts) in the form of stone, bronze metal in the form of nekara (Bulan Pejeng), reliefs depicting the life of temples or caves on the cliffs of the Pakerisan river (tukad).
